Want Some Of Your Stuff Added To The Calumet Area Show?

Hey there.... for those of you who don't know me.... I am a new dealer that is running a couple shows now and then in Indiana and Illinois. My last show was last weekend and I have another show coming up at the end of next month. The show is November 28th in Indiana. It is the Calumet area stamp coin and postcard show.
Basically I sold out of a lot of my stuff last weekend and doubt I will have enough coins for the next show. I am offering some of my table space to board members of CU.
If you have some coins that you would like added to my table for the Nov 28th show I am willing to sell them for you. The main thing I am going to need are Slabs (all types). All you have to do is ship the coins to me, I will bring them to the show (and hopefull sell them) and then send you the money made. If you decide to do this please include the price you would like to sell them for. After the show I will e-mail you informing you on what sold and what did not and then I ship the money (and leftover coins) to you. The only cost involved to you is 15% of the final sales price.
If you are interested in joining in on my table please send me an e-mail or p.m.
I usually would just have my own items on the table but I do not feel like I will have enough items to be able to make a profit after the table costs.
Thanks,
-Greg Ullstam (GRU COINS)
P.S. Please do not go posting any comments about flips or staplers.... I have already heard it all from you guys. This is busisness now and there is no joking when it comes to sales. Thanks for your cooperation.

Greg, your new nickname is Rudy.
<< <i>Sounds like a pretty good deal. I will see what I have and get back to you. >>
Sounds Good.....
I just know that I wont have enough stuff for the next show.... I am buying as fast as I can but I know I won't have enough stuff for the next show on my own... I have already cut 3 checks tonight.... I just can't get enough stuff tho by the 28th of next month.
FYI.... I am mainly looking for slabs that do not cost more the $150.... the demand on the super high priced stuff is not that high but I will still bring it if you want me to.
Thanks All.

Thats funny.... Rudy is the name of my favorite pinball charactor.... anyone ever play funhouse.... its the greatest pinball machine ever....
I actually got a chance to play one in mint condition last weekend at the midwest pinball show in Chicago. It was the best funhouse I ever saw.... the guy would not sell it though. He brought it as a display and play only.... he would not sell and he was getting some very high offers.
WEll now that I am off topic.... lol, sorry for getting off topic.

Thats a good attitude. Just don't ask to borrow supplies again and you will do alright.

After your first show, I thought maybe you were headed in the right direction and had learned from your early error in judgements. Now you come up with 15%, staplers and 50,000 commons.
Back to the drawing board!

I missed that last time I read it. Thats high, especially if you don't have much other good stuff to draw people to your table.

Maybe lower your 15% and you may get a few takers.
And BUY your own stapler.
1) Are you insured? What happens if a coin is stolen from your table, or misplaced by you? Will you pay for it?
2) Regarding coins that are not sold, will you pay the return shipping? If people send you coins with high reserves and nothing sells, then you will really be losing money after you have to ship the coins back to the consignor. You better think about that one.
3) As opposed to a fixed commission, you may want to consider working on a consignor's reserve price and you keep anything over that amount. In other words, if I send you a coin for which I need $100, then you would try to sell it at $110 or, if it is a hot, hot show, you could push it to $120, if the market will support higher prices.
4) Have you considered getting a credit card with a $1000 balance and using it as a working line of credit (of sorts)? Use it to buy coins, supplies, cash advances for show expenses, etc. After each show, pay the balance back down and bank the profit, assuming there is a profit.
Good luck......... Dennis

All right eveyone.... here we go.....
I am in a hurry because I am going to a few coin shops and hitting up a small show about 2 hours away. I have a few people interested in consignment. I was mainly looking for people to consign some "cheap" slabs. The slabs are what I will not be able to come up with by my next show. It is not because I do not have the bankroll to get them, it is because their are so many areas to cover with the slabs I would not be able to get it all together by the 28th of November. The next show I am going to is a moderatly small show, yet some of the people there often spend some good money. I mainly am looking for the slabs priced between $5-$30 so that people who go to the show can actually afford them. I usually do well with slabs priced in this range. I actually sold out of ALL of my PCGS slabs at the last show. The majority of them cost between $5-$30 and I sold ALL of them. As for insurence..... I do not have formal insur. on my coins however I would re-emburse for any value you send me up to $400. I hope I covered everything, I am leaving for the shops and small-town show in a few minutes and I don't have time to go over everything right now.
If you have any more questions feel free to p.m. me.
Thanks All,
-Greg U

Do you have a bond of some type for this self-insurance? If so, can you provide a copy of said bond? (Sorry to be a 'pain', but this is a very important issue that you need to deal with)

On the same note.... I am actually getting quite a bit of stuff coming into me. I would only need one more person if any for sending me stuff on consignment. The only stuff I need know is slabs $5-30.

<< <i>It is just insured by me and I would be more then happy to draw up a signed contract for that. It is a personal insurence by me.

Glad to see you're at least staying on top of the inquiries. Unfortunately a signed contract does not guarentee that you will have the money to pay me if my consigned materials do get stolen from you at a show. When you are financially sound enough to do so, I suggest you take out a bond for at least two times the amount of your 'guarenteed re-imbursement' amount for stolen goods. Being about to attach a copy of your bond with the consignment contract that states the re-imbursement procedures will open you up to a lot more business, it will also guarentee that you don't spend the excess funds that need to be kept aside for such reimbursement on anything else. Or you can just pick up some formal insurance, which can be actually quite affordable and neccesary given your chosen profession. Either way, best of luck to you.
Cheers,

That was quick. I'm suprised people reacted so fast to your offer.

I applaud your recognizing that this is serious business. Hopefully you'll find my comments meaningful:
1. The vast majority of us around here are really familiar strangers to each other. Sure, RYK and I know each other. But, do we *really* know each other? And, how well do you know the others around here? The point I'm trying to make here is that all, or at least nearly all, around here should be "uncomfortable" handing his coins to a stranger. The matter of a personal insurance is tantamount to being meaningless. (Please don't take this as an attack on your character.)
2. I advise you to consider changing your handle here from GtG to something more befitting the principle of a serious enterprise.

I agree with number 2, you started just trying to get your post count up, you don't need that, get a new handle, something more fitting to your business. Start off fresh.

Sorry i did not get around to answering all of your questions.... I have been out at a show all day and don't even feel like reading through all of this because I already have worked eveything out with the parties I am consigning with.
Thanks To All who consigned with me.

P.S. I have a new thread in the U.S. that explains all the stuff about the flips and stuff.... hope we can all let go of the past and give me another chance. I have changed my attitude towards my posts and guarantee you wont see posts like the flips or stapler ever again. Here is the link....
LINKIFIED!
