Funny. This coin is one of the best of only six known, it's the first appearance of the Morgan Dollar obverse design, and it has a provenance that goes back to something earlier than 1883. How is it even possible that something this cool can be privately owned, much less reasonably affordable?

Interesting that it would have 4 owners in it's first 100 yrs, then appear for sale 4 times since 1998.
Have decided to buy it from Rick Kay - thanks for the poll advice.
It is interesting that the lower arrowhead on the reverse is on a bolt of lightning (or so it appears from the zig-zag shaft of the arrow).
I wonder what made someone consider doing that? I'd hate to try to shoot an arrow that looked that way!
Never noticed that before -- that is a strange quirk of the design.
