This board isn't all that you think it is. It's a place to exchange ideas, cut up a little, and poke some fun at others, while at the same time exposing e-bay frauds and some other coin collecting persuits of genius. I take all of it seriously, though with a grain a salt - a BIG grain of salt.
I love the e-bay scambaggers stories, and when folks just start bashing cause there isn't anything else to do - well - that's the time to tune out.
I check back in later to see what the "kids" are up to and after a while it passes. No reason to LEAVE -just a reason to take pause.
Also - I have been involved in coin transactions before that were a little scary and low and behold a board member will speak out about another member about something that has happened to him or her - well GEE! It MAY be the same person I am involved in a negotiation with so I want to know!

I agree. I learned on the ebay discussion boards long ago that, before one strikes that "send" button, one should stop and think, at least momentarily, about the possible deleterious impact on other individuals of those words.
Example: Its okay for anyone to say that toned coins suck. If that's what you think, who am I to say you shouldn't say it for all to hear? However, it's not okay to say that the person who collects them is an idiot, a moron, etc.,etc.

I stayed because you can't find a better forum than this one for coin information. 99.9% of the people on this board do a "Great Job" of helping others learn about coins. The pictures of coins can't be beat. Take what folks say here with a grain of salt. We all have our good days and bad. If you don't like a post, pass it by. Don't dwell on it. OK, I can agree with you on some of your points. But I have news for you.. the board won't change to fit any one person's needs/wants. You have to act as your own filter. Don't like the content of an AT/NT message? Don't read it. Don't give a crap about Marty/Russ? Don't read it.
Personally, I got tired of the 5 million avatars and pictures in the signature lines. It wasn't slowing down my internet connection, but some of them are just damn annoying or even downright stupid. Now I don't have to see 'em. No reason to pack up and leave... just do what you have to do to make it enjoyable.

Second, anyone who annouces their (grammar lesson #2 - it's not there or they're, and it is it's not its) leaving with such fanfare is a pathetic attention getter. If you don't like the board, just fade away into the sunset. People come and go all the time. We don't need a billboard with lights containing an explanation.
The last thread I started on this forum was about toning of 1999 clad proof sets. Basically, mine started developing toning and I wanted to see if anyone else's 1999 clad proof set had developed the same toning.
I only received six replies, and one of them was mine. Even though it didn't generate the same number of replies as do AT vs NT debates, to that I say SO WHAT?? I still appreciate the replies I did receive and they answered some "hidden" questions I had about the numbers of toned 1999 clad sets that could be out there and how I store my coins.
My point is, don't be so concerned with the quantity of replies as you do the quality.

Who said anything about banning creativity? I just don't need to see Cammy's Olsen twins and everyone's political ads in their signature line every 2 seconds. We get enough of that in the media, and it's getting real old.. I could care less about who hates bush, likes bush, worships bush, hates kerry, likes kerry, worships kerry etc. ad nauseum.
