No Sweep!!!!!

I think the cards will come alive tonite and win the next 2. Just think it would be more fitting to see sox win at fenway so we can see the city be destroyed by the fans. any chance cards do what sox did to the yankees?

  • I feel bad for the greatest fans in baseball (St. Louis).

Seeing the expression on their faces only reminds us
of the expressions on the Fenway faithful for many years.

It's too bad the Cards will lose this series. They are a
    classy team with great fans.

The Red Sox have won 7 straight against the two
best records in baseball. That is amazing.

Their pitching and hitting has been the difference.
    Certainly hasn't been their defense.
  • How did this team win 105 games during the regular season? Their starting pitching is for shi_.

Why are the Cards fans the greatest in baseball?

Kuhlman, I think the Sox will close it out tonight ... and Boston will erupt anyway!

Cards fans are known as the greatest because of their knowledge and support. Peter Gammons says so... so it must be true.

So who made Peter Gammons the authority? I enjoy his viewpoints, but he has been wrong on many, many things ....

nothing against Card fans, just was curious as to why - something I have never heard before.

It's not just Gammons, it is commonly shared view point that they are the best or at least as good as it gets. St.Louis is just a huge baseball town, people live and die baseball. The fans get their reputation through things like cheering the other team if they make a great diving catch and really cheering on their own team (tons of curtain calls). Cubs fans booed Sosa constantly this year, that would never happen to a Cardinal Icon. Not saying that they would never get booed but it would not be constant. It is just a different atmosphere at Cardinal games.
  • Cardsfan,

Gammons also picked Chicago and Houston going to the wire to win the NL central. I don't need some biased West coast baseball guru telling me that we have the best fans in baseball.
We know were the best fans in baseball and thats all that matters!
I'll pray for a comeback but congrats in advance to Beantown if they win tonite.
Keep the hope. I can't wait for Spring Training.

    bengineno9,
Gammons is a Boston writer, but for some reason really loves the Cardinals. Even though he picked Houston and the Cubs he did also write an article saying not to write off the Cards. And when I said "Gammons says so" I meant it to be slightly sarcastic. I'm not giving up hope. Boston still is cursed... right? Of couse according to the following article so are we:

I also believe the Cards have knowledgeable fans who have class, and follow their team loyally. It has been a bit tougher rooting against them, much different from the last series - image

Yeah, but it's not as tough as rooting for the Cards right now. Just a horrific effort from the Redbirds. In hindsight, they obviously should've made a strong play for Randy Johnson.

No doubt Steinbrenner is thinking the same thing image

    about the cardinals fans...

i'm a mets fan, but my aunt & uncle live in st. louis, so i have traveled out there plenty of times to catch a few games. i can honestly say it is a different type of atmosphere there in St. louis when it comes to baseball. not only are they great & knowledgeable fans for their own team, but they are great & knowledgable baseball fans. thats a trait that is lacking in many ballparks across the nation.

  • Cardsfan:
Read the Hernandez curse yesterday. Very interesting.

    Steve:
Randy would of been nice. I think Pavano would be just as good.
Seeing the look on Kline's face during the introduction made me sick .

Man, I'm not even watching. Just noticed on cbssportsline that they're already losing on a first inning homer. What else is new?

I like Pavano a lot, but he could also be the Esteban Loaiza of 2005. A stud like Johnson would've been great to send out there this year since none of the other hurlers are the kind of guys who can be counted on to go out and stop the bloodletting.
