I believe because NGC will call coins with PL surfaces PL and PCGS will not (except Morgans) or smoething like that.

We wanted to send it to PCGS, but they do not designate P/L, whereas NGC will put P/L on the holder.

Hey guys, I really was not teasing. I am on a wireless connection and they must be having problems as we keep losing our connection, even though we have a strong signal. Seems to be working for the moment, so I will quickly give the grade.

This is the only P/L Philadelphia Mint Mercury Dime graded with the P/L designation (in any grade). The handful of other P/L Mercs are all branch mint (mostly San Francisco).

Dennis, over the years I've seen hundreds of MS 60 plus Mercs, but never one that looks like yours. Congrats; it sure looks PL to me! It actually has the 'look' of many late 1880s Seated Quarters and Halves, not a Merc.

I looked at this dime today and it is FANTASTIC! This coin is the nicest non-proof Mercury dime I have ever seen! Dennis' pics do not do this coin justice! You look at this coin and you would swear it is a cameo proof mercury dime.
