Congratulations To The Newest #1 Set in $100 Platinum Proofs!!

Congrats to the newest #1 set in $100 PLATINUM PROOFS!! I think you may well see another collector or two later this year also register a set in this otherwise "quiet" series.

    I like that...... "and Mom."

Monster coins. The proofs are just breath taking on these platinum eagles.

I bet that the prices of PR70DCAM will reach the Moom (not the Mom) in the next few days.

I spent the better part of an hour on the phone yesterday with a collector who was building a set of "CC" Morgans in Choice Unc. grade as well as accumulating some "better date" MS Silver Eagles and other 'lower" mintage moderns. He pointed out to me the "low mintage" of just 3.6 million on that 1996 MS Silver Eagle and even the "exceedingly low mintage" of 75,000 on the Millennium Eagles. I asked him if he was aware of the mintages on Platinum Eagles, mint state or proof. He said he was not. I referred him to his Red Book as a homework assignment for the evening.

As far as the mintages on the coins in the $100 Proof Plats, here they are for 1997-2001. The trend of very low mintages continues for 2002-2003 as well (perhaps the Bailey boys or mom can illuminate the readers with those numbers as well) image

    1997 - 16,000
    1998- 26,047
    1999 12,351
    2000 - 12,400
    2001 - 8,900

NOT TO MENTION WORLD-WIDE SALES BY THE U.S. MINT - YES - JUST 8,900 PROOF $100 PLAT COINS FROM 2001 SPREAD ALL OVER THE PLANET!!

Mitch. Is this really necessary to advertise the great opportunity here? I'd, personally like to keep things a bit more quiet, and the prices under their ostensible value, thank you very much...

Steve: Nobody listens anyway - what does it matter image And, besides, there are not many modern sets I can even talk about these days that I do not have a personal registry set going in.

    Thanks everyone for the support!

As a collector, I tend to agree with RegistryCoin.

So for the readers, one last look:

"Final numbers for the $100 Plat Proofs by year, including 4 coin sets"

    1997 20,855
    1998 14,203
    1999 12,351
    2000 12,479
    2001 8,990
    2002 9,834
    2003 8,423 +/- returns
2004 3,444 (sales from two weeks ago)

Congrats, definitely a tough set to get that high.
Of course getting "mom" invovled is extremely dangerous.
I always get "How much is it worth? Are you going to sell it? Why not?"
    "You spent how much?"
Then it's off to the couch for me.
