That particular purveyor of putrid shake and bake has been the topic of discussion here a few times. Apparently, besides knowing how to operate an oven, he counts among his skills the ability to read.

I, for one, have been thoroughly entertained. image
  • Cool story. Or should I say HOT story. Gee, imagine your house burning down due to a volcano and some coins in your safe getting a nice heat treatment. It is a good thing the lahar and mud slides didn't wash away that house like they did so many other houses there. Yes, that auction was entertaining to me. image

Ok metal guys, what are the chances that silver coins can survive heat so high that it melts a (steel?) safe?

Magma so hot that it melts rock, and a safe will tone silver coins that are at the bottom of a safe???
Plus the safe is buried? image

"The heat was such that the safe which is suppose to be fire proof partially melted and more than half of the coins were fused together like a huge silver coin nugget."

Explaining the story to my son, as he said.."....no, it would be 1 giant puddle of silver"image

the reverse is un-mistakenly the work of Vincent Van Gogh.

At least the seller isn't being over-dramatic or anything..... image

  • Quite an entertaining auction. I wonder how many negs he will get as a result of selling AT coins in the near future when the buyers discover they have been scammed?

Well, based on the type of buyer he's looking for, they will be people who "when they make a decision it is usually a final decision" and as I could find no provisions for any return privilege, it most certainly will be "final" image once he has their money! image

  • With those awesome colors that his 5000.00 camera couldn't capture properly......Blew this moron's mind so badly that he can't decide what the date of the coin is:

This listing is for an amazingly beautiful 1925 Peace Dollar. We donÂ’t quite know how to grade this coin for we regard the coin as a mere canvas that displays an amazing work of art. The obverse of the coin exudes colors in patterns that would rival a painting rendered by Salvador Dali and the reverse is un-mistakenly the work of Vincent Van Gogh. If you look at the pictures and compare it with Starry Night you will see the similarity in the way the color blends together. You will also be surprise at how this coin shimmers even in the lowest of light. We have not seen a coin that captures the imagination like this one and we are requesting that you grade the coin using your own system of grading for if we were to grade this coin it would receive an MS71 for we firmly believe that another coin such as this does not exist.

BUT PICS ARE OF A '26............

THE HEAT MUST HAVE FLOWED THE DATE MARK TO MAKE A 5 A 6!!!!

God......check please....it's time for me to go.

  • I read about this seller, and bought an "Amazingly toned beautiful proof set" 1961 for $50+ (stupid me). The coins had been excessivly handled, had to be taken out of the holder-so he could take pictures twice- once on the good side holder-with the coins flipped- and another time with the coins properly displayed. The other side of the holder had spray paint on it.
NOW-this seller promises FULL REFUND IF NOT 100% happy. Seller ALSO promises to refund shipping.

SO, I bought the set. When I got it I opened it, and, low and behold-the tone was ugly, and furthermore-it had scratches in the "toning"

I asked for a refund-and he credited my account the same day via paypal. He did this BEFORE I shipped the coins back. I am not saying that his product is good-I am just saying for the record- I got my $$$ back-quick like. If I had wanted, I could have merely kept his trash, as he had already credited my account and left positive feedback. Garbage he may have, but I got MY refund image

    Quite entertaining.
  • What is it with people/sellers like this, are they trying to flood the potential buyer/victim/mark whatever with information
    overload?
If I have to read through a book to get to the item discreption, you've lost me.
I prefer it short, sweet, succinct, honest, and maybe accurate if possible.

  • Well, I was mildly entertained.
  • Me too. He needs to work harder to get a better reaction here and make this thread 5 pages in length.
