Question about Slabs Cameron?

I recently came across, and had a chance to buy, an interesting set of NGC coins. One was a Buffalo nickel, 1936 grades as MS63 with Full Bands - the other was a 1936 Merc graded as MS 63. Thats right, the buff was graded full bands and labeled as a dime. It's a matched backwards pair of slabs.

Has anyone seen this before?

is it worth anything?

  • I have seen that a few times from fresh coins back from the grading services. They are called mechanical errors and do carry a slight premium, probably $5-10 per slab over the normal coin, and would bring more money as a pair. Most of them you see broken apart from the other coins from the batch and would be much neater if both errors were together.
