What are you going to put on the cover of the auction catalog that contains your collection?

I was thinking I'd go with a shot of me sneaking a rare coin into the house while my wife is watching a 'Masterpiece Theatre' adaptation of a Jane Austen novel.

  • I'm going to take the photo of Walter Breen that appears just inside the front of his red book on half cents and take his face out and put mine in it's place.

Have you ever seen that photo?

It's a total hoot especially when you see that he's wearing flip flops. It is entitled "The Master at Study"

I'll post an image of it after I get my girls to bed.
  • Adrian - can you post a pic?

    Edited to say 'never mind'.

  • The cover of "MY" catalog would have to be a photo montage of Camoron Kiefer and Mad Marty...... After looking at those two guys, EVERYTHING in the catalog would look better !!!!!!!

I know this is just a modern coin and not in the greatest condition, but I wouldn't mind going with:

Unfortunately, I would be watching the Jane Austen adapatation--I am a big fan. I could take that pciture for you, if you need me to.

My auction catalog will have a dirty gold coin on it , XF-45 at best.

Adrian - Do you have that photo or did you copy it from the half cent book?

Oh, never mind, now I read your earlier post.

BTW, Jack Collins only printed four of those photos on canvas. I bought his copy when George Kolbe sold Jack's library. It's now on my library wall but it is NOT going on the cover of my auction catalog. That spot's reserved for Aki.

  • Is it just me, or is there some subliminal advertising in Breen's lamp?

Now that I know the story, that pic freaks me out, big time.

  • Quick story about that Breen photograph, although I only know bits-n-pieces of the story:

Breen and the photographer shot that at an antique store. They arranged all of the furniture to capture the effect of an old study. Pretty good job, imho.
