Just left my first negative feedback.....

The buyer never reaponded to numerous emails. I even sent a non paying bidder warning to him. Do you think he will neg me in retaliation?

  • Whew! I'm still at 100%, so it wasn't me. They probably will, so have a response ready that explains what happened in more detail. Stick to the facts and don't say anything that you might be sued for.

Everytime I left a negative for NPBs, no one ever negged me back. So, hopefully, you will be okay.

Hopefully they will have some honor and take their neg like a man. image

  • Hard to say. Why don't you send him an email telling him that if he makes the transaction good that you will remove the negative through fair trade.

Making the transaction good would be an an explanation and maybe an apology (he may have been burying his 7 year old child) or selling you the item.

If he negs you after the email, still try to find out why and maybe if you have a 100% clean record prior to the impending neg you guys can reach a resolution and mutual understanding that might lead you to removal of both negs.....if it's worth the time to you.
  • I've left at least 5 negs, and 2 neutrals, and still have 850 feedbacks w/100% positive. I'm thinking it's just a matter of time till I run into a nut who is just looking to give a neg to a seller with a 100% pos feedcak history - I hear they're out there. Not to worry you or anything.image

  • I am expecting my first NPB'er notice and 1st neg soon. I bought an item at the last min. on impulse for my daughter.
Went to pay and found the shipping charge was $60 for what may be a 5 lb item. emailed the seller for clarification and so far no response. Also did not notice sellers horrible feedback history.
Question: can some one get Naru'ed for not buying/paying for this item? Have a 100% buyers feedback otherwise. Thanks

Well, if they didn't explicitly mention the amount of shipping and handling charges, be afraid. Always ask the seller before bidding if it's not explicitly listed.

As for NARU, generally it's the third NPB that gets you NARU'd.
  • When shipping gets that far out of hand this sellers should just be removed from e-bay. I would go to great lenghts to fight any negative left. As far as leaving a negative for a non-payer, never have. I figure someone got carried away and couldn't afford an item I own and probably will profit on. Have sent reminders for up to 2 months. Paid once 3 months later and gained a repeat costomer. If they do this all the time that's another story.

I stupidly just broke that rule and, sure enough, the seller tacked on $10 shipping for a $23 item that'll cost no more than $3 to ship. I'd probably be really pissed if I hadn't ripped him.

I recently got my first neg from a buyer who would not respond to ANY post-auction email, but then responded to a non-paying buyer warning with an underpayment. Again, I emailed him to get him to make up the difference and he would not respond. So, I took it to SquareTrade and he responded by saying he'd pay the difference. A week later, no payment. I had provided a final date, so I withdrew the item and refunded his money through PayPal. I had a bad feeling about it, but I neg'd him two weeks later. He retaliated. eBay would not remove the neg, as I did not have a SquareTrade negotiater involved and had chosen to do it the "free" method. Terrible policy on eBay's part. Retaliatory negs should simply be removed without question. Fortunately, if anyone bothers to look at my feedback and read his neg, then look at the neg I left him, he looks like a jerk. This incident prompted me to spell out EVERYTHING about payment, underpayment, etc. in my auctions. Most people are simply intelligent enough to not require such lengths of explanation, but I felt it was for the better.

I neg'ed the very first NPB I got and a couple of months later I get an email from his wife saying that her husband had a heart attack and was in a coma for a couple of months and was coming home from the hospital.

She didn't know about his eBay stuff until he woke up and she wanted to buy the coin so everything would be how it was before he went to the hospital. (I had already relisted and sold the coin).

So I don't bother leaving negs for people who don't pay. I go thru the eBay system, so they get a strike and I get my fees back. Beyond that I don't care.
