How to get State quarter flag holders

There have been alot of posts about how to get the flag inserts on state quarters and I think I finally have the answer. I posted earlier that customer service told me that you had to submit at least 20 state quarters and request the flag holders on the submission form. I got a call the other day from PCGS and this was incorrect. You have to submit at least 20 of the same quarter to be eligible for the flags, they did say there was no extra charge. I don't know why PCGS cannot post this on there web site (that would be too easy) but hopefully this is the final version until the next time they call me. This was an expensive lesson for me since I submitted 40+ quarters that I now don't want and will sell on E-bay... hopefully to get half my money back.

May I ask what the lesson was? Do you not want the coins just because they don't have the label you were looking for?

Yes, I want to put together a set of the flagged holders and should have just bought them. Since I am addicted to submitting coins I decided to get them through submissions and would hopefully get lucky with some 70s. I did get two 1999 70's earlier so I guess I'm still ahead (money wise) but had the customer service rep not told me that you could submit in lots of 20 for the flags I wouldn't have sent in the forty quarters I'm getting back now.

Maybe a detailed email to customer service could help. Certainly it's worth a try.

I agree to call customer service. Then again, when they're selling for the cost of grading plus the cost of a raw coin, why submit yourself?

When the person called me to say that there is no way they could holder them in the flags I told him that two different reps had told me I could do it this way but he didn't budge. I called today because one of my submissions has been there 7/27 and told her the same thing but it didn't sound like anything could be done. She was very nice so I didn't give her too hard of a time about it.

As for the question of why grade yourself instead of just buying them- I was hoping to win the lottery again and get a 70. Plus I love that adrenaline rush when get the "grades are in e-mail". Even if the grades suck (most of mine do) it's always fun.
