When selling coins ?????

I have a set (1986-2004) of Silver Proof Eagles. Each is in the box and has the COA. Is it more profitable to sell this by the complete set or piece by piece ? Thanks

In my opinion, it's always better to sell sets separately. If you try to sell the entire set, you lock out all the collectors putting together sets. You also run into the vultures who want to buy your coins for half of what they are worth.
  • Hi,

When you have a mixed condition group of coins, it’s good to sell the off condition stuff with the higher grades in a set or collection… you’ll get more that way; usually.

When it comes to proofs, or GEM mint, MS65’s plus… you should make far more profit selling them individually (IMHO)

    Have a good day now,
    Anthony

Most folks don't necessarily like to buy a pre-picked out set; but maybe prefer to pick out their own coins; so your customer base is quite limited. Smoe folks don't necessarily want to mess with selling off the duplicates, and there is the point that a complete set is beyond the financial means of many collectors.
