Anyone Ever See This Type of PCGS Box Before?

braddickbraddick Posts: 23,963 ✭✭✭✭✭
First I've seen or heard of. I have it displayed next to an NGC box. The PCGS box's plastic is a bit darker but otherwise they look similar.

Anyone know why PCGS decided against this type of slab box and went with the green instead?

I've never seen that type of PCGS box person, but I did see one a few weeks ago. I think it was for on ebay.

No, I'm not. The first time I've seen or heard of it was when I purchased it.
    Any info?

I now see what you mean... no- I quoted him before he edited his typo. I hadn't even noticed it when responding to him.

I walked up to the pcgs booth at the coin show, and I said to the ladies, "show me your boxes.."

they looked at me kind of funny, so I clarified, "I just want to see what kind of boxes you have, are they brown?"

"My slab fits tightly in the box"

Back on topic: I like those boxes better than the blue ones. I have several of the NGC boxes.

I believe the black PCGS boxes either still are or were at one time used internally at PCGS.

Thanks Dragon, that would make sense.

  • Doh!! I got in a bidding war with Cameron over one not long ago. You're going to hit a sore spot with that one.

  • You didn't get in a bidding war. I posted a thread asking about a box just like this and you bid me up just because of the thread.

Man I gotta find one of those! Are there any other PCGS boxes I don't know about?

Yes....PCGS also had a box that fit the smaller rattler slabs.

btw...That PCGS slab box Braddick bought looks like it fits NCG and PCGS slabs.

It doesn't. Its the same size as the blue or green PCGS boxes and only holds PCGS ones.
