I know the nice ones go into the low four figures. That's about all I can tell you. That is a nice looking one.

Price looks about right to me.
But it can be construed as being "retail", thus there might be some haggling room if your a good customer.
I've seen them sell for more than that too.

Thanks for the opinions. I'm going to take a another day or so to think about it. I've been selling some coins to bid on a couple
English coins but I really like the owl on this one.

You can find them all over the place in the $500 to $1000 range but they won't be as nice as this one. If you like it and plan on keeping it a long time, I'd say go for it.

That is a nice example, but I'm clueless as to price on these.

Looks about right on. It has a lot going for it. Nice style. Good flan shape. Well centered so that all of the owl, legend, sprig and crescent are complete. Good strike with nice detail on Athena's helmet and the owl's feathers. Pleasing color to top it off.

Nice purchase. I'm envious. Always wanted one, and I told myself I'd only settle for a nice one with exactly that sort of style and detail. And of course the nice ones like that ain't cheap, which is precisely why I still don't have one, after 28 years of collecting.

There is one way I'd settle for a not-so-nice one, and that would be to find a holed one for my vest.
