What the heck is going on with PCGS????

I know these aren't the same coin, but while surfing Ebay tonight I came across this auction:

1967 PCGS MS68 SMS WASHINGTON QUARTER


I thought the coin looked good, but had no idea of the value or the POP, so I searched the completed items on Ebay and found this:

1967 PCGS MS68 SMS WASHINGTON QUARTER

Notice that the one auction ended on the 27th and the other started on the 28th and the serial numbers are totally different. So this begs the question...........................why can't PCGS holder 1967 SMS MS68 Quarters straight

Just one of those little things that make you go Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Sometimes the coins move around a bit after being holder. If you tap the holder a bit, the coin will rotate back into the desired position.

OK.. I see the rotation... I am so used to mine coming back like that, I didn't pay attention..

I have heard this, but for the life of me....I have never gotten it to work....even had several coins reholdered after taping for days

For PCGS slabs like the one in these auctions, I haven't had trouble tapping the holder to get the coinback into position. Doing this with the "rattlers" can be a frustrating experience. Ditto for NGC holders.

Yes, my experience has been with the rattlers and if anything, the tapping made them rotate further out of place

The one that just sold was a coin I made out of a mint set. That particular submission had 20 coins in it and 3 or 4 of them came back uncentered. Must have been a bad day for the guy running the sealing machine.

If you tap them on the opposite side, they usually rotate back.

Those were probably slabbed during one of the Vegas shows.

I must also be a mistapper, because for the life of me I can't get it to work either. I don't have any crooked coins but just wanted to test it out to see if the tapping stories are true. Can't do it.

Hurts my hand, the coin won't budge so I tried tapping on the desk and that won't work. I found myself getting aggravated and the the slab's gonna crack if I don't stop!
