Poppy red 66 coupe with aftermarket dual exhausts. Likely a low-po V-8 with hydraulic valves. I love that one. image The solid lifters in the hi-po require manual adjustment every 1500 miles. image

Cool old/new car. I just bought a new car too today -a turbo Subaru GT. It doesn't have the history of your car but it has seat warmers image

6 cylinder car with dual exhaust ? Orrrr....did someone just forget the V-8 fender badges when that one was restored ? Orrrr.....is it a original 6 with a V-8 cramed into it. Anyway it looks decent. I like the coin much better. image

Jason I love the Red AT Mustang!! What Year is she? I can see that it's a 68-Morgan!! Both are very pretty!!

I hope that the coin was less expensive than the car image

I knew you would pop in when there was mention of a car. yes it is the low po v-8. Gonna have the engine completely reworked or put a new crate motor in it. Factory air, automatic and all original (for now).

    should be a fun project.
  • fairlane you are very observant and yes the 289 badges are in the mail and should be here on Friday.

How did that Morgan grade MS68 with that GIGANTIC crater above the eagle's head?

  • it sure is big isn't it Russ? amazing it made it into a 68

My 3 year old daughter calls the car "Daddy's NEW old car" kids are so cool. image

JB, it should be a blast. If you go that deep, buy the rear valance for the duals and route them there with the factory tips. The cars with the K in the vin are very expensive, but not nearly as much fun to drive as the one you picked. Good choice! One of my favorite cars. I drove my last convertible 80k miles. They're like an old tennis-shoe to me, and I miss having one. Maybe one day.......

  • would need to see the vin....if it was a i-6, it would have 4lug drums all the way around.....from the pic, it at least has 5 lug in the front, new top, aftermarket exhaust.

'95 V-6 soon to be sold

I have a couple of others as well......

  • Restored soon? What the hell do you need to restore about that?! It looks great!! image

    I wouldn't mind getting a classic Mustang... but I have taken a ride in a rebuilt 1940 Model-A image

Wow... they did not tell me that when I purchased one of the Hi-Po's in 66. Bought it used at a dealer in Portland that said it belonged to a little old lady. Yea I fell for that one alright especially when I saw the Weigane (Sp) High Rise sitting on top of the engine instead of the factory intake.

Think I adjusted the valves one time in 4 years. image

Jason there are just so many of those that have been worked over as you probably know. Mustangs are the car version of a scam in some cases. image

Hey the Vinyl Top cars are much Cooler looking than the others. My 65 Hi-Po was Baby Blue with a White Vinyl Top. Sort of a sleeper color for a car that got with it.

    Ken
  • for the record it is a 289 V-8 with the 3 speed automatic tranny. I will be possibly putting this kit on the body

    image
  • Awe, you can be more creative than that......

This is one of my babies....tried to link earlier but didn't work

Awww Shucks. Just cram a stroked 351 into the engine compartment. Make it run like hell but leave the outside alone.

    not quite my style

    Fairlane

If I go with a crate motor it will be a 351w

  • I collect(ed) both Love the stock plain jane 64/65 green one in the background too. Other than a correct interior and new rear lower valence panel for the dual 289-271hp type exhaust tips, I don't see much to restore on the '66! The wheels you have are nicer against the red paint than original stock steel rally mags too. Pretty cars.

It's truly funny, no make that truly sad, that people in this day and age are so wrapped up in their own little world that they refuse to try and teach someone else the correct or accepted way of doing things.

YOU SUCK! (for the car--the coin is okay, too image)
  • The lower rear valance with the holes is for a GT car,not all 271 horse cars were GT's.
All 271 horse cars had solid lifters, the Shelby cars were 306 horse.
the proper spelling for said aftermarket intake manifold is "WEIAND"
271 horsers had iron intakes, the Shelby was alloy as was the weiand.

Build ya a 347 based on a 302,the 351w is a high deck motor and really does not fit that well in a 65-66 car.

Momma has given me permission to build a 572 inch Chevy (Body to be named later)

I may not be able to grade coins, but i have been in the automotive biz for 30 years.

  • eyoung429,

What is that "thing" stickin' out of the middle of the hood !?

    That's nasty !!!! image
  • ..100proof1957: My memory is failing and you're 100 proof correct. When I ordered my '66, the salesman offered the GT kit with dual exhaust and the other stuff separately from the engine order. Of course you could probably get the solid lifter 271hp without the kit and duals but how many of us actually did that? All I'm saying is his '66 currently has dual exhaust, and the GT trumpets going thru an easy bolt- on lower valence panel in my one opinion looks cool. I remember they rattled sometimes though!! Nice memories.
