What is the approx date for this PCGS insert?...more pics

Hi folks I was wondering what the approx date was when PCGS used this insert. I have seen the green labels with bar codes but not one of these green labels. This is on a coin I aquired today. The coin also rattles in the holder too...LOL!!

That's really the reason why these Gen-1 PCGS holders are called "rattlers"...

The tag was used from Feb. '89 to sometime in '89, perhaps only to '89 or so as Russ mentioned. The "rattler" holder was used from feb. '86-mid-late August '89. The 2nd gernation (same holder, but with a plastic sleeve, was introduced at the '89 ANA show in Pittsburgh.

Here are the rest of the pics. This slab was in a bag of odd and end mint sets (1968-1980) and world coins I bought today at a group antique/swap shop. The bag was marked $28.50 and I told the elderly lady working behind the counter that the price couldn't be correct. She said, " If $28.50 is marked on the bag then that's what you'll get it for. If it's a mistake it's the person who marked it fault not mine." So I took it

Man, great score. I read about it when you mentioned it in another thread.

I don't remember those rattlers being so clear. That one is in fantastic shape (not just the coin, but the holder, too!)

Yeah LM the slab has very little in the way of scratches and no cloudiness at all.
