Of course it might have happened to rotate slightly in transit, but I think we all suspect that someone did a half assed job getting it into the holder and thought it was too much trouble to fix it.
Thank you for verifying it can be done Baley. I have impressed tons of people with that trick because they think like ksteelheader and think it cannot be done. I don't even tap it that hard and it can be done with PCGS slabs other than the rattler holders!
Guys, that coin has a reeded edge and will not rotate in that type of slab with the soft insert! If you believe it can be done, fine, but I have tried it with reeded edge coins and it does not happen...
Hi, that would not bother me at all. The tapping trick is an old trick, and it works just fine. But really, it is a 70 and we are collecting the coin right - what difference does this make? Does the plastic have an independant eye appeal that affects value or desirability? Not to me.

Cameron, put up or shut up! Post a pic of a PCGS slab right now with a reeded edge coin in it with a shot of the serial number. Then, in ten minutes, post another picture of the same serialed # slab with the coin rotated. If you can't, then move on!
Ken, perhaps it can be done and you just aren't doing it right? I know many times in the past I've said something can't be done and then had a friend do it in about two seconds lol. My foot really doesn't taste that good =(
I heard they were making a French version of Medal of Honor. I wonder how many hotkeys it'll have for "surrender."
Since were buying the coin not the holder what does it matter? Seriously though, I think it could be rotated back. It probably rotated in transit and will rotate back but it will take more than your palm, probably take taping the corner on a table top. ksteelheader you see, the reeded edge does grip the neophrene ring securely but the entire coin & neophrene ring will rotate inside the slab.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
Ok I just had to try it. I didn't have any crooked ones but I just made one crooked. Man that's a $2k coin I just turned to make cammy's silly point. I hate yall.

Well, I didn't think it would work either, but I just did it on a quarter! But instead of tapping it in my palm, I gave it some good raps on a new post-it-note pad. Four or five whacks and it rotated about 10 degrees. Flipped it around and rotated it back as well.
Still, it is sad that PCGS can't get coins located in the holders correctly. I hope they don't say that they move in transit like the rattlers did.

Better check the current prices Dog, that's much more than a $2k coin right now.
Well it took more than a pad of post it notes to turn mine. I had to knock it pretty hard on my concrete porch. Whole time I was thinking this is going to be an unintentional crackout. I did a slabbed JRob $5 last week but it only took rapping it on the tabletop to turn it back to proper rotation.

It's more difficult then you think. The seller is in Pennsylvania and my arms aren't that long.

Won't work with that type of slab! The coin is in there for the long haul!
Ken
Cameron did exactly that for me last June in Long Beach, with just that type of slab.
I've since done it with other late model pcgs coins, straightened 'em right out!

Light ones can be tough.
I sent these back for reholdering. A month later they shipped them back

Billy Nice 70!
<< <i>When they mis-mount the coins like that, do they charge you for reholdering? >>
No, it's a "mechanical error" and there is no charge for reholdering or return shipping.
You do have to pay postage and insurance to send it back to PCGS though, so everybody wins

No sample slabs with quarters?
Or this one!
Or, this one would work!
How about this one??

Like cameonut mentioned, you can tap it on a pad of post-it notes or a paperback book without worrying about cracking it.

Not really, Cameron! Just had a family emergency last evening while posting to this! Son was admitted to the hospital. Turned out to be kidney stones!
Thanks though for showing that it can be done!

No problem. I won;t argue points in the coin forum if I am wrong. The open forum is another matter
