Wow -- what a shipping charge!

$20.00 for "Standard flat rate shipping service" on this 1928 Saint.

Oh, and that does NOT include insurance. Pay with cashier's check or money order and you get a "bargain" at $11 shipping with insurance.

A hidden surcharge for PayPal? image

Yes, but it is only $1.50 for each additional itemimage.

It is pretty obvioius the seller is trying to compensate for eBay fees.

Actually, if I'm buying a nice $20 saint, and the seller wants to charge $5 shipping plus $6 insurance.....I don't think I would mind.

With insurance, I think $11 is a borderline reasonable charge for a $500ish coin. But that's not the point.

The auction said $20 PLUS insurance...but it's $11 only if you pay by cashier's check or money order. To me that's a stealth PayPal surcharge. Insurance on this item will run around $7 (or a total of $27 if paying by other means). So in reality what they're saying is that while they accept PayPal, it will cost you an extra $16 or so in shipping. I don't care, really -- I think my AU-58 Saint blows this one away from what I can see -- but my search found this one and I thought it intriguing after drilling into it.

$5 if you pay with a check or mo + $6 insc
    or
$20 if you pay with paypal + $2 optional insc if you want it.
    or
some kind of shipping charge + $2.00/$50, $3.00/$100 worth and $1.00 added for every $100/worth after that if you pay before invoice is sent.
    unless
You're an international buyer then you have to email for cost.

    I'm so confused. (scratches head)
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
