Minimum grade question

I sent my coin in for the first time for grading to PCGS. It's a crossover for a AU50 seated half dollar. For the minimum grade I put vf, so if the coin is graded vf or higher it will be encapsulated in the PCGS holder. I just wanted to know if this was correct.

That is correct. If they grade it VF or higher it will be slabbed.

Thats quite a downgrade, what slab is it in now?

It's in a ANACS slab.

I don't think ANACS is so bad with grading. If this had been a third world holder, I would be more concerned. It might cross. If not, I don't think it would come back worse than XF-45. I agree that setting your sights as low as VF, might be a bit extreme.

Because the coin is obviously inferior if it's not in a PCGS holder.
