Check out this interesting (black????) PCGS Box - update 1/23

image

It is NOT an NGC hazy box but a PCGS logo one on the top. I wonder if it is a prototype or how many were made?

  • Who are you kidding? You'll probably snipe me in the last two seconds anyway. image Go ahead and outbid me. I promise not to bid anymore. I'm only a few dollars over the current high bid.

  • image I don't snipe. I just cost myself alot of money with this post but I don't care. I want to get the knowledge out there!

    Cameron Kiefer
  • Sorry, I intended it as a joke. I really thought you would come back and outbid me.

  • I will bid later but not right nowimage

  • Never seen one before. Would be interesting to know if it's the identical
configuration to the PCGS box, with just a different plastic. I'm betting it
is as injection molds are expensive to produce.

Strange. It still look s a lot like the old NGC boxes; perhaps with a PCGS logo added? But then was the NGC logs ground off. Again, strange....

I'm not going for it! Quick Cammy bid $500!!!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

  • No Cameron, since you found it and was gracious enough to share the information, if you want it I will bow out. But remember me if you find another one.

Maybe, but given no one seems to have ever seen one, and given the quality of the pic, etc., I'd like more confirmation .... however, if it is cheap enough, or someone is willing to take the chance on it... maybe they'll get something realy cool (i.e., maybe it is real).

  • A few more have appeared but not many. David Hall never answered my question in the Q&A yet from weeks ago either.

I was high bidder on that auction. I still own that box too. First I've seen or heard of. I was able to mostly sell off the sample Lincolns and they more than paid for the box.

  • Yes. I will have to take a pic of the one I have since the linked pic from the ebay auction is no longer valid.

Actually there is an old dealer who has one. That is the box the sample Lincolns came in.

I didn't mess with setting up the tripod, so they're a bit blurry, but you get the idea:

I saw somewhere that reportedly these are for PCGS internal use only. They are not supposed to get out. This would support why no official response has ever been received.
