Congrats Ron Guth!

Way to go!

He is now the "David Lange" of PCGS basically. PCGS needed a person like this and Mr. Guth is the man for the job. He is a wealth of knowledge!

  • Ron is also my favorite auctioneer. He's been a real asset to numismatics.

I have always known Ron to be a true gentleman, and an extremely knowledgeable one at that. Congrats to both Ron and PCGS.
  • I thought this was great news for PCGS and for Ron.

PCGS gets one of the good guys in the industry and a font of knowledge, Ron gets a cool job with a cool company.

    Congrats all around.

Excellent - PCGS needed someone in that role. I don't know Mr. Guth personally, considering the authors of the praise he's gotten already in this thread, he must be a good guy!

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Looks like a replacement for QDB and a competitor of David Lange at NGC. Looks like fun times are ahead. image

  • Congrats Guth! (Although I don't understand the concept of saying "Congrats" since he doesn't read these boards. But he did a job well done so..Congrats!)

I have 1 or 2 of his books. One of the books was very good, it was a small book about coins about 200 or so pages long. Only thing wrong with it in my opinion is when he listed all of the grading services and treated them like they all were equal and good. (This might've not been his book)

It was either that book he wrote, or Coins For Dummies, which is also a helpful book. The king of all books is the PCGS guide to grading and counterfeit detection, he probably helped the making of that book as well.

  • Congrats to PCGS for bringing Ron onboard. He will put a polished face on PCGS.

I certainly don't agree but I've been told that HRH can be a little too blunt at times.image

Just because he doesn't post doesn't mean he does not read the forums. Hundreds of major people in the hobby read these but don't post.
