My guess is it's only them...

  • One of their experts, I have never heard of them letting the consignor. If you write a description and part of it is legitimate and will help sell the coin they may include it as they did with one of my coins but I doubt you can actually write out the full description they include with the lot.

If you know something about the coin's history that Heritage didn't know, I'm sure they would consider including it in the description, but it's strickly up to Heritage. Otherwise, you're out of luck.

  • I've wondered the same thing in regards to images. Some of the members here take
incredibly good (and accurate) photos of their coins. Would an auction house use a
    consignor's photos?

No. Simply too much hassle for thousands of coins for each auction. They have their own in house system and it works and keeps things organized. Its a neat idea but I seriously doubt any company would do that, even customer oriented ANR.

They won't use your photo's and almost certainly won't use anything you provide, no mather how relevant or interesting you think it may be. At least, that's been my experience with them. I do like the people and the company, and certainly expect to continue to work with them. But, unless you make the description requirements part of your contract, don't expect to see your material in print.
  • I would NOT consign if I could not provide a description. Heritage is teriible at descriptions. I think if I gave them one of my best PQ coins to sell they'd but "Brilliant" as the description.... Fine, the coin speaks for itself... AT THE AUCTION... but you'll lose out on internet bids and people who look at the pictures on their site....

TYVM but NT.... Years of hard work finding the highest quality coins only to have them give a one word/sentence description.... forget it...image

You will have to sell them here or eBay because you will be waiting a LONG time.

  • I was once told that if a consingment was large enough that the owner might be able to contribute to the wording in the descriptions. I do not know if that is really the case but could understand an owner wanting such power.

    Thank you
