I would appreciate some ideas on a new machine

It has been a number of years since my last metal detecting trip but I am again interested in the subject. My old machine is a very old one. My budget would permit a decent machine but there are so many options on the market today. Can you fellows give me some ideas? I am basically looking for a no nonsense machine that will help me avoid digging for trash but does not necessarily come with all the bells and wistles.
