I'm doing a type set!

Hi everyone!

I have not posted in quite a while. It was Summer, you know!

Well, I have decided, with help from my grandfather (ksteelheader) and my local dealer, to sell my Peace collection and go with a raw type set collection. Our dealer Vince will have my new Dansco book in two weeks. I now have a nice bundle of $$$$ to spend on these coins from the sale of the Peace collection!

I did, however, buy my first coin for the set! I have put pictures here with my grandfathers help. I will be shooting for XF and higher coins.

Enjoy the pictures! It's an 1862. The toning hides part of the date in the picture.

Sweet Coin!!!! You're going to have soo much fun with your type set, especially with ksteelheader as a grandad. I'm sure he'll help you fill a hole or two or five

good luck and remember to take it slow, buy the coins that you like and that you think will follow the pattern of your set. Again great choice and you're going to have fun!!!

Nice half dime. Type sets are fun because it may take you in a direction that you never planned on and you get to sample all the coins out there.

Type sets are a lot of fun and challenging. I also enjoy collecting early commemoratives....I think the two go hand in hand quite nicely...

Wow, I'm jealous of that half dime. I, too, am doing a type set...about 80% complete.......slowly converting them all to proof. some of my friends love looking thru my dansco......most of them never knew the US had 2 and 3 cent coins, and find the half dime cool as heck.

That is a *lovely* half dime. I really like crusty better circ seated coins like that -- can't beat them. Have fun with your type set. It's a fun way to collect.
