My guess is that it's Dmitri Young.

Probably planning on crossing over the discs to GAI 10.5's,
and then dominating GAI's innovative new coaster registry which should be up and running by Monday ...

    Mike,
Very nice job on your 60's Football award page.
I would like to thank you for taking the time to put it together.
Also, in looking over the awards, I would like to tip my hat especially to Skinsfan for his THREE first place finishes.
That is certainly no easy task.
He is the 60's Football Champ in my book!!
    Congrats Art.

  • Thanks for the update Mike. You do a great job on that page but I have not been able to find it from your site. I have a hint now and will try again.
Thanks to the folks who have knocked Dav off the list since I have not updated a card in the 60's FB stuff in six months. Now could some of you go after Art for a while? Speaking of the skinsfan, he a great guy and a top notch competitor, I agree. I think his greatest strength is that he just doesn't give up. Never goes away and just keep working at the goal. Always raising the bar. Three great sets.
But Mojo, if you haven't been out and around here, there isn't a guy active in 60's FB that I have run accross that I didn't like. Mike at Nearmint, Wolfbear, the Franks (Fab and Evanov), Paul Lemm, Dav, etc.
All good guys all good competitors.
    Good Luck to all.

    Hey Fuzz,
I would like to wish you and your family well !!
There is no doubt that the group of 60's Football Collectors and dealers you mentioned is top notch and beyond.
We'll even throw Mike T's name in there to boot.
Even though he is taking a brief sabatial such as yourself.
I am thankful to have met you guy's this past year.
The best to you all .....today and everyday.

  • Looks like Wolf made a last minute push on several sets. New 63T leader and a 62 F set with numbers that are just over the top. Nice job Wolf.
Will be interested to see Nearmints update for the "after the updates".

The great thing about owning the tables is that I can update them the minute I pass someone.

    Updated 1960's Olympics medals tables

Congrats to the 2004 registry winners!

    Mike
  • Mike 1st off great job on the updates, thanks for the work you put in!!!!!.

Also see you won some more 68 nines the other day you are going to make me form a fear the nrmint club if you keep it up image.

But once again even after being in his cave for almost a year now the FUZZ IS STILL THE MAN.

ALL HAIL THE FUZZ WE ALL FEAR THE FUZZ
  • Mike,
Great work and I really enjoy the page. Not just for the obvious reasons but it does provide credit to some nice sets that might otherwise be overlooked.
    Skinsfan,
Have been in the cave next to Bin Laden for some time. Lots of loud noises and I think he moved out.
Got a serious tush kicking so far during the break but am having a good time. Won six sets last year (four 60's and two 70's) and only two this year. Down to third in one of last years winners and two other former stars are more than .2 behind. Looks like there is plenty of competition going on in these sets. May have to end my vacation early to get back to this but we shall see.

    Better hurry back Fuzz.

Powerful foes are conspiring to storm your castle gates even as you read this message.

If you tary, your kingdom will be broken asunder,
and the rankings of your sets will be scattered in ruin across the vast battlefield of the registry.

... when the battle ended, and the smoke finally cleared .... the trojan horse stood at the gates of the castle, with the door wide open. The defeated king peered into the opening of the horse to try and learn the identity of the traitor. But alas, all that remained was a single pair of torn speedo's hanging from a nail.

  • Guys, Guys, Guys,
Why so negative. Always look on the bright side of life.
My demise has been greatly exagerated.
Still hanging on by a fingernail or two. But if push comes to shove. I have a couple of sets not listed that I believe already qualify for the medal table so don't stress over it. I vertainly don't.
Now Wolfbear ........ Stop it, or I shall taunt you a second time.

It makes no sense NOT to weight the medals:

    Gold:3
    Silver:2
    Bronze:1

    Loves me some shiny!
  • Carew,
I don't know if it was earlier in this thread or not but this was done to mimick the way the Olympics report their medal totals. They do not weight their's but use the higher medals to break ties.

Some Ugly rumors are out floating around about our buddy Skinsfan. You may have to update again soon.

So I heard, but I haven't seen the change, and I thought I'd do the update while I had time. Maybe Skins decided he didn't need that house after all?
  • Jason,
While I know it was said in jest, he hasn't been much of a factor here. He has numerous sets listed and they seem to be lower in GPA than what it will take to be competitve in most cases. He has a very nice 63 Fleer set that has recently shown up, but his '67 Philly will not stay on the board more than a few months as higher GPA sets become more complete. This is becoming an area of specialists and for a generalist to beat these guys will be very, very difficult. Some sets like the Evanov sets and the 60 Fleer from Nearmint or Levi's '65's may be untouchable. So to make a splash here, they will have to commit a lot more $ and really hope to buy out sets of the leaders and they won't be a bargain and will be no guarentee.

I felt the same way until MOSH began focusing HARD on the NFL HOF RC set. If the card is available and MOSH needs it, MOSH gets it. With so many hard to find cards in 60's football sets, the biggest problem they will face is availability. Hopefully, the major 60's football collectors value their sets over money.

I wish you guys the best and I'll be rooting for you...

Wish MOSH would allow viewing of their sets.
I've got some 1960's NFL HOF Rookies in PSA 9 I'd sell if the price was right.

Jason - have you got MOSH's e-mail address handy ? image
