Got the Roosie on Friday and the Merc yesterday The Mercury wins for one of the biggest pains to shoot through a slab. Both grade MS66, the merc by NGC, the roosie by PCGS.
To show the color a bit better, albeit it had to include a glare
...and the Roosie!
Weird but neat obverse:
Super-sweet Reverse!
Since the lustre shows only some of the color, here's a view of the color all the way around:
Enjoy!

BTW, I think the Merc is overgraded....those marks on the cheek downgrade it a bit IMO. Pretty coin though...

<< <i>When did you discover that the BEST picture for a toned coin is the one that has DIRECT glare from the slab? I found that out last year...ticked me off no end.

Jom, usually diffused light works--sometimes, like with the merc, it doesn't, especially with the thickness of the NGC slab
The one mark is minimal and really not visable at all angles--it just happens to be visable with this lighting. Remember, too, that the image is a lot larger than a dime.
On the grade: We'll agree to disagree.

<< <i>Diffused light doesn't work for me in that it takes away the ability to show the luster of the coin. >>
Which is why I always take two pictures--one of the color, and one of the lustre

P.S. except for that '39 67FB I picked up from carlW in ngc plastic.... of course there are exceptions - kidding aside buy the coin and not the holder you know - but when it comes to mercs NGC has really been far behind pcgs................
edited to make the picture show

P.S. That may get you a "you suck" award too
<< <i>Well, here's another NGC merc I got back in May (a fatty holder, MS66) >>
A beauty !!!
