I think I know who's behind this SGS nonsense.

There is a seller on ebay called aboncom who seems to be the largest purveyor of SGS slabs. (Theres over 1200 of them listed on ebay as I type this). He lists his location as Mansfield, Ohio. SGS is located in Ashland, Ohio which is a straight line run of about 20 minutes down a major highway connecting the two. Seems too coincidental to me.

The POS wouldn't ship my coin and refunded my money.
Then left neg feedback, I honored my part of the deal, he didn't and left me neg feedback, go figure.

I am in search for raw 1951 to 1953 Franklin Proofs in about the grade you indicate. These are for an album, so they need not be high grade.
Send me a message if you are interested.
Also, turn on you private message feature, so all of us can contact you with out going through the public message board.

Same with any service. There are major dealers close by and they drive over and drop off batches of coins to slab.

<< <i>In all fairness, even though the grades on the holders are meaningless, there are still some decent, if far from perfect, coins in SGS and other third rate holders >>
The problem with Abon, though, is that they make extensive use of stock images and those images are generally of the nicest coins.
