NGC newsflash on show grading

NGC will start offering a 4 hour guaranteed show turnaround service for $150 a coin. They will be collected in hourly lots and guaranteed turnaround within 4 hours or normal $100 per coin pricing will apply. Looks like if they take over 4 hours you get the grading for $100.

Don't shoot the messenger.

Hate to be the evil one, but many dealers were still waiting for their $200.00 walkthru's at ANA up 2 full days later.

David Hall mentioned at the Set Registry luncheon that even though they have a $200 walkthrough tier, they still get too many coins submitted at shows to get the coins back as fast as they would like. Then one of the guests at the luncheon asked David to raise the walkthrough price even higher so he could get his coins back faster. When David said a lot of coins aren't worth an even higher fee for slabbing, the guest said that he didn't mind, he just wanted his coins back sooner and if raising the price would reduce the submissions, he was all for it.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

I think PCGS and NGC should have a 30 minute in show grade guarantee for $1,000 per coin. I'm done.

how can someone get all goosebumpy w/ excitement waiting for alleged professionals to take ..... FOUR HOURS for a grade? i mean, how long does it freakin take to grade a coin & shove into a piece of plastic???

It's the addition of fingerprints which takes all the time; grading only takes 90 seconds for all three graders.

I would have to say you have pretty good hearing!! Especially when some one is willing to pay more to have a coin graded then it is actually worth just because they are to impatient to wait a few weeks. I guess it is true that some people really do have more money then brains.
