Passing signal is on - Mercateers

I should be adding a 28-S in 66 shortly, and while I have been sliding down this should bump me up one spot for a short time.

Where are all the Merc threads these days? Did anyone make any purchases at ANA or have their dealer find some new acquisitions? Sure has been slow on Merc topics, other than the 16-D topic in the Coin Forum.

    Hi Deep,

Yup - been quiet - nothing overly exciting it seemed. I had my eyes on a number of Merc's in the Reed Hawn sale and most of the dates I was looking for either upgrades or whatever was way short of what I expect in terms of quality and eye appeal. Personally I was actually dissapointed to say the least. In the other sales and other avenues there is nothing to be seen in terms of true super graded examples. The better coins, accurately graded and great preservation pieces have been eaten up and are NOT to be seen.

    Glad you're moving image

Passing signal is now turned off. Alas, the deal fell through. However, better not to make a deal, than to make a bad deal.

The good news is this does free up some $$$ for a different new purchase. Hint to Larry and Steve. Looking forward to seeing what you have available.

ANA, Local Dealer ? When you live out in the Boonies there is no such thing. The closest real dealer is now 190 miles away. image Now all there is to depend on is the forum members, hint, hint, and web sites which have had very little lately.

    Such is life though.

Larry you got the hint. Correct ? PM me.....imageimage

    Take Care Guys.

That's a good selection of Mercs. I'm sure you'll be able to sell some here.

There didn't appear to be an over-abundance of Mercs in the pre-ANA auctions, at least not the dates & grades I'm looking for. I hope some of those who actually attended the show went home with additions they can share with us. The Mercateers have been far too quiet.

The Merc crew needs some uplifting. I wish I had something. It has been a pretty long dry spell for me. I have about three coins I would like to update, but every time I see one of them, the price is just too high for me.

Dibs on the 16S(For Sure ) and the 39P if it has some color.......image 31S also if it shows some color. You can never have enough 31S's...image

    Thank You !!!

By the way guys I still have 19 FB Mercs that are Registry Quality. A couple in the teens, some in the twenties and few in the thirties and forties. Whip a date on me and I will let you know if I have it. From what I have been seeing lately, price wise and quality wise, my prices are reasonable.

Yes, that new #1 set is a great set - all FB's - mostly 65's and 66's, with a few 67's and 68's sprinkled in.

He also has a set of Flying Eagle cents, Mr. Bill's Birds. I don't know who it is, but wonder if it's Bill Walser. He built some fine sets in other series.

Whoever it is, they should have used a spellchecker when typing the name of the set. image

    Ken,

    Chevelle--did someone say Chevelle!

Yup, I'm a Chevy guy with the old stuff. But Ford rule for newer vehicles their quality is far superior to new GM stuff.

    Larry,

You can only upload an icon on the 15th of each month. And they sometimes move that around. You can go in and edit your info on the 15th and there will be an icon upload box. The icon has to be no larger than 100 x 100. Upload from you computer and it is put in place for you. Good luck.

Larry here is the obverse of the 39D. Click on the Image if you like it and then save it in your files. On upload day, the 15th, go get it and upload it for your icon. The size is correct. The file name is 39D.gif
