Just a thought.......type set related

I've seen and heard of countless 20th Century Type sets. I know many strive at the complete U.S. Type Set. However, I've never heard of or seen a 19th Century Type Set. There is no registry set for one either. Any thoughts...?

I'm not an NGC member and can't log in to see what that set actually is....what is a NGC "USA Type Set"?

I completed a type set some time back and added to what you have listed. I used the Kingswood Capital holders which have 58 holes for the 19th century set. I also added 8 more for a total of 66 types. I also added the gold types from 1834-1900 (also Kingswood) which added another 14 coins to my type set.
Make your type set to please YOU and you won't be dissapointed.
The Seated Liberty subset from this collection (including the 20c piece and Trade dollar) is still intact and in the hands of another forum member.
It was a fun set to assemble, and probably represents the purest "collector" stage in my development as a numismatist.
I went with proof coins where I could, but that's a matter of personal preference. Some folks don't like mixing proofs and business strikes but I like the flash of proofs and bought them when possible. To me a proof coin represents the best possible example of a particular design, and that of course is one of the whole ideas behind type collecting- you don't have to worry about key dates but you wanna buy the best you can afford. For me at the time, anything over $100 was a stretch, and I needed layaways to buy the ones over $200. But I did it, Draped coins and all. Each coin in the original set cost me less than 500 bucks. Maybe I paid $550 for the Bust dollar. (When I compiled this list during my Registry period, I had upgraded some like the Barber half). I was working a much lower-paying job when I started the set, so some of the coins required some considerable sacrifice and saving on my part. It was worth it, though.
