Where do you buy coins to sell at coin shows

I am new to the coin show busisness and I am going to be doing a show in late October and I need to buy, buy, buy.... where do you big dealers get your stuff?.... I really don't know where to look outside of the obvious possibilities.

Thanks,

I see a surprising amount of stuff that dealers buy out of auctions and then list at retail.

There are no "secret spots" to get coins. Dealers build networks over time and have more access than the newbie. There is no Santa Claus in numismatics. You start small and build your way up.

You might want to give teletrade a look. Others here probably have a lot more experience there than I do, but from what I've seen lately a fair number of coins are going for some pretty sleepy prices there. Depends a lot on what you're looking for, of course. Everything there is slabbed, although it's a fair bet lots of it is low end for the grade. You don't sound like you are looking for super-expensive stuff, though, so it might be worth checking out.

  • The coin shows you are planning would dictate a lot. I set up at a local show a few months back with 64-66 type and gold and did little. The guys with $30 coins didn't have time for lunch.
