I go to these shows to look and admire the coins but meeting so many members was my highlight.
All of the top billed coins were there and were sensational. I really enjoyed the exhibits, too. "To some, it's tarnish but we call it toning" "101 ways to collect" and the "the Indian Princesses" displays were my favorites. Met up with TooTawl, Ken & his wife, then Traci, Frank,Tassa, Goose, and MadMarty. Between Ken and Marty, all of the Kennedy proof and SMS sets were checked before my arrival. Went to the registry luncheon where the top 20 sets were awarded. Richard Green was at my table and won for his Kennedy Unc. set. Also at my table were Gary, and Todd & Robert Abbey (CameoCoins). Robert and I continued our 1964 Kennedy discussions. Had a nice chat with Rick from R&I (asked him how he spent all the money I send him) and Bob Bruce from All American Coins in Red Lion, PA. Jason was also as nice as everyone said.Went to see if NCS could help my 1869 Half with the "little" problem, but the person was only there Thursday. Marty picked up an order at NGC and helped snag a new silver NGC box for my modest collection. Still prefer the smoke-colored ones, but I love freebies. Met Coppercoins late in the day - what a great guy, and author!
Off to dinner at the Brew Works. Asked Ken what the 250 gallon copper container was on the altar; he said "first course" Dining pals were Tassa, Woods, Kranky and the Pug. We took up three loooong tables and even though it was jammed, no one rushed us. Later met up with Don Heath (Russ, your name only came up about 100 times) and Will Rossman (Peak). Those two know more about coins than I every will. Passed lots of coins around and met a few dozen more members.
I am humbled to have so many smart and interesting people as fellow members. After careful consideration, let it be known that IdahoGal and Tassa are genuine knockouts and wonderful to talk to.
If I may steal Will Rossman's line of the night, "I buy and sell coins; I collect friends."

I agree that one of the highlites of any show is the opportunity to meet and enjoy the company of fellow board members. It sounds like all had a good time. Sorry I missed it.

It sure was. Is the term "You suck" part of the requisite reverence?
Russ, your name is always spoken with the highest regard.
Big thanks to Ken for taking care of dinner plans. The restaurant was a bit taken when he confirned a table for 40 on a busy Friday night.
Did I mention Ken is planning the bus trip for the ANA show next year in Kansas City?

The whole show was more fun than it should have been, and Joe's too modest.
Russ, your name did come up at dinner. I suggested we call you and ask for a credit card number to buy a round. I figure since you were a no show, it was the right thing to do.
and it sets us apart from practitioners and consultants. Gregor

I too have met most of the board members you speoke of.It was truely a pleasure. They are collectively a great bunch.Their collective knowledge of coins, is mind blowing. The fact that they are willing to share that knowledge is what makes these boards so great.
