Newbie question

I inherited a bunch of coins, so I am new at this.

What do the numbers in the PGPS price list grid mean?

I have a 1920 Buffalo Nickel in poor condition. The number under category G is 1. Surely, this is not worth 1 cent. That would be less than the face value.

Any help would be appreciated.

The numbers are in U.S. Dollars. So you are seeing $1.00.

image And the price guide is just that, a guide. Don't expect to go to your local coin shop and get that amount, it just won't happen. But it does give you a ballpark on a coins value.

  • The PCGS price guide is almost always overpriced, but it does give you a good ballpark of what the coin is worth.
