The buyer will pay $24,725 to Heritage.
Heritage will pay you $21,500 less your commission.
Heritage pockets the $3,225 difference (plus whatever they charge you).

When you really think about it, that's crazy! Reminds me of a Bank. Banks don't have any money but they hold everybody else's.(yours, mine, ours) They give us pennies in the form of miniscule interest when they lend our money to others and THEY pocket the real profit. You'd think they'd at least split it with us! If everybody all pulled their money out of these financial institutions there would be a lot of unemployed bankers.

Think about how really dumb this is! They act like THEY are the Big Shots when actually they have nothing, yet just like clock work all the little people run to them to deposit their money. We'd do well to hold our own money.

Same applies here. Heritage is going to make all the money without even even owning the coins they auction. This is insane! There are bargains everywhere yet people go to these big auctions, bid crazy money and get juiced to death when they well could have found the same coins on their own. There is definitely something wrong with this picture.imageimageimage
  • He didn't have to consign it to Heritage, yet he chose to. He should have known Boom what they would take. He listed it several times on the boards for sale, ebay at least twice.....etc. and no bites.

21500 is the price you net unless heritage and you had a different consignment agreement

Hey - Cameron and I are in the same thread and it doesn't contain anything about sample slabs!

Lame way to hit 600 posts.

As I recall, this is far less money than was discussed a month or so ago on the BST. I thought someone offered more than this and no deal was made. It definitely appeared that Cleon hinted about offer(s) from major dealers above this price range.....obviously not. Had the coin been offered once on ebay and not pulled back, it just may have sold for something in between the $24,750 and $21,500.
Yes, Heritage wins. Stacks has been doing the same for decades. It's the risk-free way to build wealth in the coin business. Have you noticed how Heritage carries a miniscule inventory these days? Far less than most other big retailers.
