Wow, unless the call I got was a prank this baby:

1909S Lincoln

went for $69,000 in the Heritage auction tonight. Stewart Blay, the King of Lincolns, was the winner. Congratulations to Stewart. Unless I'm mistaken now he has two of them and the pop is only three!

    I sold the 3rd one off my website to a collector a few years back where it was advertised for sale on the site a month or so around $8,000 - $9,000 as I recall. I had thought about keeping it - one of many mistakes image

    Better quality Lincolns are going wild in this auction!! The market's still strong for the higher grade/quality stuff, folks.

    Yes David, the prices for top coins continue to climb. The 13-P in 67RD went for $27,600 w/ the juice!

    I can't imagine Stewart bought that coin. I thought he was broke!image I bet he was bidding for someone (ME!!). What would he want with another one? I will say this, he does like to collect duplicates. He has more than one specimen of many of the keys.

    O'K Stewart, that's it, I am sending in my 15-D to make it a Pop. 1 67RD just because you're not playing fair.

    Stewart should be at the PCGS Registry Luncheon tomorrow. I'll ask him if he has anything he wants to pass around. image

    Here's an interesting contrast. Today we have another thread going in which there some comments that the "big brother," 1909-S-VDB, is overpriced.
