I don't post stuff like this but I am sure most here will get a laugh out of this.
I had this auction running on Ebay link to auction
I received this email (name deleted)
Dear jbsteven1,
I don't understand the reserve or the price on these 11 coins. Total retail and on PCGS daily price guide , they list total for about 900 bucks. You sure fooled some folks and your reserve is way off. Regards,
I responded with this:
You obviously don't know the value of toned coins.
Here is his next email to me (the all caps sealed the doofus award for me)
SOME PEOPLE LIKE TONED COINS YES. BUT THE RED BOOK AND ANY OTHER GRAY OR BLUE SHEETS
DO NOT GIVE PREMIUMS FOR TONED COINS. AN MS65 IS AN MS65 PERIOD.
Here is how I responded:
You just don't get it.
Funny thing about this bidder is while I was searching my past emails I noticed he sent me the same kind of email anout 10 months ago.

Very sweet coins! I want!! Of course I'm saving my money for Long Beach so I'll have to pass.

What I think some collectors forget is how market value is set. JB's coin, once sold, will set the value of that coin. Not:
1) The price sheets
2) God
3) Bubba who works at the local liquor store
4) My mom
When two people come to an agreement on price THAT is the value of the coin. Period. If JB can't sell his coin at his present asking price he'll have to lower it. He misjudged but so what? Eventually he'll hit it right and someone will buy it. Simple stuff really so I just don't understand why people feel the need to write emails to whine about an asking price. You either make your own offer or forget it. Geez...it really is simple but apparently not for this dolt.

Maybe he was right.
Just wondering what made you sell them as a lot, rather than separately? Seems like there would be a broader base of collectors who could 1 or 2 of them vs. all of them.

Is he a Kennedy collector?
Really now, Jason, they look great.

Kennedy collectors know how to use computers without training wheels.

<< <i>I don't understand this string?? I agree with the guy who sent the email!!! You won't find me spending any more than say $2300 for a 1950D dime in 67!!........ That's as much as I'll pay for "pretty" toning.... >>
Nice, original coins may be worth a premimum, but this is silly IMO!

I've got inner ear problems, I need those training wheels.
If he doesnt get it, he wont get them. 3K is way too low for those eleven. I dont even have the money and I'd buy them at that without blinking... so would a LOT of other guys (and at least one girl .)
