Environmental Damage?

This 1851 1C came back from PCGS as Environmental Damage (J-127 Original).

Can anyone tell me what kind of "Environmental Damage" this is and whether it can be "conserved"? Thanks!!

why would you want to slab that?

it just has common surface micro-porosity. i wouldn't sweat it.
