Darn thing did not say it was Blow Torched though ! image Actually this dime was a funky brown color and I busted it out to see what it just might really look like. Someone wrecked a nice little Merc that is not exactly easy to find. 25P's are one of my favorites so that is why I took a chance but lost on this one.

Take Care.

You could risk dipping it. I don't think it looks to bad, but it isn't really attractive either.

Actually the obverse is not really all that bad. The reverse is just way, way wrong IMO. Heck I can doctor better than this. image

That is an early PCI slab. While their grading was very good then, they weren't the best in detecting cooked coins. I've received a few cooked Morgans in their slabs that I knew better to submit.
  • Ken,

What's your take on them calling it FB when it has that slash across the bands on the far right?
  • FairlanemanFairlaneman Posts: 10,423 ✭✭✭✭✭
Eric thats why I took a shot at this merc. Some nice coins have been in the Green Holder slabs. This was not one of them, not for a 63 anyway. AU50 would be a better grade for the coin. Oh well.

Collecting is boring if you do not take a chance once in awhile.

Heck I did not even look at that. The AT job caught my attention. I just looked at the band area and for some reason that slash that shows on the picture here is much lighter. From what I have seen I think this coin would even go FB at NGC and for sure at PCGS.

They would never get that far though.
