Too much, I was just at Publix this morning and saw that problem. I brought one from the lot but there were none in the store.
Last night the offical track had it coming straight thru Lake Mary (just a hair south of Sanford) but today it's projected to come on just South of Vero Beach and head over the attrations (Disney). But since the margin of error 48 hours out is 200+ miles, it could be anywhere from Miami to GA. Just about every business around here will be closed Friday except some retailers. Here, we've had some pretty steady gusts for the last 2 hours, conditions I am guessing the entire SE coast is having, as it is certainly unusual under a clear sky.
Got the charcoal, got the gas and everything else Kevin mentioned. Although you see so many of these get to the coast and turn North, what else can you do but get ready for the worst? Jeremy
I know I'm not in Florida, and I feel for you guys. But I want to tell you about our ordeal. We got hailed on Monday and the adjuster just left and wrote us a check for 90K.. It averaged 30 cars @ 4,000 each with a $30,000 deductable! You should see the cars. Golf ball sized hail will do some MAJOR damage. The cool thing is, we rented 1/2 our shop to a paintless dent repair guy. He's going to pay us a flat 20% of every car!
I just watched a radar loop of the past 2 hours, it appears to be turning more north which it is was a shift and not just temporary bobble in course it will hit in more Northeastern FL or SE Georgia. It just needs to be watched by all in its immediate area from Charleston SC through Savannah to Miami.
Official forecast track that will be released at 5PM. I still believe that it will hit between Lauderdale and Palm Beach though. Some expected effects at points in the state. Orlando - max wind 74 mph at 12AM midnight Saturday. Polk County - 77 mph at 1AM Sunday. Tampa - 54 mph at 6AM Sunday. Looks like those inland and across the state may escape 100 mph winds as the storm makes it's way across the state and weakens. This all may change of course as we head into the weekend.
i'm still in polk county, ready to weather it out again. for those unfamiliar, its the big county right between tampa and orlando in the map before my post. i live right about where the white box is, and it suxs. this one looks like it will be worse than charley for us, and that one hit polk pretty hard. the wife had a whole list of things to get this morning, and came back with only water and a flashlight. everything is sold out. home depot had the front doors shut and was only selling wood outside. 1 hour lines for gas and at the bank. people fighting over loaves of bread, parking spots, taking to long to pump gas, it's crazy man. good luck to everyone in FLA, here we go again!
Having trouble running out of bandwidth so I can't post the forecast track. Here is an excellent site that gives an accurate forecast track (not the general stuff used on TV) and up to date hi res pictures.
The storm is slowing and it looks like we may all have to wait a little longer before it hits. A slowing or stall can mean a change in direction, and certainly will mean more rainfall.

Actually, I live about 220 miles from Tampa. I spent about 14 hours on Thursday boarding up my house and packing up my valuables. I left Lake Worth (a few miles south of West Palm Beach) at around 3:00PM today. I just didn't feel comfortable staying.
It was eerie driving away. There was almost nobody on the roads. The first feeder bands had started coming through the area, and I could feel the force of the winds against my truck while I was driving. There was already quite a bit of debris, mostly palm fronds and other loose material, blowing across the roads. As I drove west, the skies cleared and I actually had a beautiful 4 hour drive to where I am now.
I've been through some storms in the past, but this one really scares me.
I'm currently sitting in a hotel room about 50 miles north of Tampa. I'll have to see what tomorrow has in store for me and take it from there.
I take back all those mean and nasty things I said about you in the Nolan Ryan thread when you sniped 1000. Hope you're doing well; give us an update at to whats going on near tampa. Francis is now a tropical storm but who knows what will happen over the gulf.

ps) all those slabbed cards could have made an exceptional shelter if positioned and fastened strategically. However, flooding may be a problem.
Well once we are done with Frances we need to start thinking about Ivan(the terrible) already aiming for Florida. Rain from Frances started about 8pm here in Savannah and has been fairly heavy since then.

That's right about where the center is now. How strange to get 50mph winds for almost 48 hours straight. We are one of the lucky 20% in our county not to lose power or phone service. The local news is telling people to leave their homes boarded a few more days until lthey know where the next one is going. Jessica's sister and brother live in West Palm and they got it just as bad if not worse there then us. The size of this storm is just amazing. Let some clean up begin!
Not too much in Southwest FL from Frances. Rain and some gusty wind since Saturday. The latest on landfall for Ivan ranges from the west coast of FL (Tampa and south) or Texas. My sources say the FL west coast is the most probable at the moment - early next week. On Wednesday and Thursday the experts should be able to give a good range for landfall, at least a 400-500 mile area.
To get out of the house, we decided to go to Disney yesterday. Best I have ever seen it. Parking was great, and there were zero lines. And it was the only place someone could find an open restaurant.
Glad to hear most people did OK, and while property damage was up from Charley, the death toll was down. Take care out there! Jeremy

I say landfall somewhere between Ft. Lauderdale and Palm Beach (the city not county). Should be at about 4AM Saturday.
