Ugh! what a horrible lot

Somebody I know personally won a lot of 3,500 mixed coins for around $600 and about 3,000 of them were CIRCULATED LINCOLN MEMORIALS!!! There were only 40 silver coins nothing special, and about 500 or so ugly wheats. isn't there some kinda action he can take, the seller is refusing a refund!

Was this an eBay auction? Do you have a link?

    Yes. Have his head examined.

  • Probably not, but it depends on where he purchased the coins and if the dealer/seller advertised he had a return policy. He really should have found out exactly what was in the lot and if the seller misrepresented what was in the lot then there might be some legal ramifications he will face.

I bet the header for the auction said something like ESTATE Sale, Completely unsearched.
    US Navy CWO3 retired. 12/81-09/04

    Looking for PCGS AU58 Washington's, 32-63.
  • I feel for the guy but how was this advertised that he thought he would be getting something better?

I don't understand why anyone would risk this! There is so much SCUM out there!!! So he paid 600 bucks for 30 dollars in pennies and a few silver coins? Ouch...I'm really sorry. Maybe this will be the mistake that keeps him from making bigger ones... image

Sounds to me like someone purchase several pounds of those mixed coins from grandma's attic and got what was advertsided-junk.

Do you have an auction link, assuming it was eBay of course.?

I know I could be wrong about what I said, but that description sounds really familiar.
  • Whatever happened with this ebay deal?

I'm sorry to hear about your friends loss also.

SamThompson, what other IDs do you have on the forum?

Are you for real or are you just posting these types of threads for the sake of posting?

This is at least the second time you've posted this type of thread and never supplied a link although numerous members have asked you to supply one.

Post a link to the auction that this thread is in reference to.

That is the only way anyone here can answer your question of whether or not you (your friend) has any recourse.

Or maybe it is you that bought that lot looking for that Big Score?

Chalk it up as another damned life lesson. He paid $600 for $50 worth of coins. Sucks to be him, but he should stop whining about it and move on.

If this was on eBay, do provide a link, please.

For some reason, several of Sam's post he never replies to when folks ask him questions. I guess this will be one of them.
