My 100th Post - A trivia question

pursuitoflibertypursuitofliberty Posts: 6,913 ✭✭✭✭✭
For my 100th post, which I just realized was upon me ... I have a trivia question ...

How many different date and mint combinations of regular issue US coins from the 20th Century (other than gold) have a mintage of less than 2.0 million ?

And for a bonus, which of the series that do contain such coins, have the most, and the fewest issues ?

For clarification, these are only the regular issue (business strike) Copper, Silver and Nickel Coins only, from 1900 thru 1999.

I'll check back on Sunday night at 9pm PST to see how many get it right. image

are we supposed to do all this research for bragging rights, or is there some kind of prize?

edit: oh yeah, congrats on 100! image

    How about

What is the total combined mintages from all US Mints (include branch mints)?

    and for a bonus

How many are in XF condition today?

Thanks Baley ... I knew I should have included a prize ... wanted to offer one of these but didn't have one that was worth less than a couple hundred bucks, and I guess I haven't learned to be that generous on this board yet.

As for the appearent flame from Relayer, well ... nah, I'll just keep it to myself ... I didn't think it wasn't that hard a question. So, I'll just kill the thread since he/she killed my enthusiam for seeeing if anyone else knew the answer.

131 coins (unless I got it wrong)

Only 1 Liberty Nickel, and 29 Barber Halves

Anyone wants the spreadsheet, drop me a PM image

And for those who just want to look ... here's the raw data (I compiled this a couple of years ago)

You don't have to give a prize, just don't make the question so hard.

You and I both asked the same question - who has a spread sheet of the mintages of all US coins? You just asked for it to be sorted a certain way.

I didn't mean to rain on your parade. Since you have the list a better trivia question would have been

"Which 20th Century coin has the the lowest mintage?"

And actually I think that would have been a pretty good question. Then people could have guessed at it.

From your list I know what it is now. (Which is something I didn't know before so I learned that from you).

You should edit your post or make a new one and ask that question and I'll bet you'll get many more guesses.

Do you have a spreadsheet of all US Mintages? If so that is something I would like to have.

    Relayer,

Yes, you are correct ... in retrospect, way too much tought involved for a "trivia question" ... nope, don't have the whole 20th Century Mintage figures, but if you'd like this spreadsheet to play with, send me your email.

Next time I'll keep it simpler.

    Todd
