New Purchase: 1882 PCGS MS-64 (PQ) Morgan Dollar -- Photos

Here's a new 1882 PCGS MS-64 (PQ) that I purchased this evening on TeleTrade. I liked the strong mint luster, strike of the coin and the clean fields. It looked PQ to me for an MS-64, and the price jumps 7x from $50 in MS-64 Ask to $340 in MS-65 Bid... image

I'd be interested in your opinion of her image

Very pretty but I don't see this going to a 65, at least not if I'm submitting it, maybe for you it will.

  • I can see a 65--nice fields, cheek a little scuffy but not bad--you never know.

I"ve got an 86 that I dug out of a $10 box at a local dealer that went 65--looked a lot like this one.

  • Though it's always hard to judge from a pic, I agree with the PQ - perhaps it'd be worth cracking and resubmitting. Could easily go 65. I bought an '81-S in a first gen. PCGS MS61 holder. I thought it was much better, cracked it, and it came back MS63PL! No big $'s involved, but it was neat to have my "eye" confirmed!
