Which states are psa set registry participants from?

I enjoy reading the posts and have learned a lot about the hobby! I was wondering from what states you are all from and what year did you start collecting? I am from Rhode Island and have been collecting cards since 1971 ! I was 5 years old at the time and my parents would buy me a pack each week from the grocery store!

Chicago, IL - and my first card was a 1982 Topps Mike Squires which a friend of mine gave to me. Whenever I open a 1982 Topps pack, I always look to see whether a Squires is in the pack!!

Now I'm mostly into football and my first football cards were packs of 1981 football that I bought from a local deli in 1983 or so. I still remember that they were laying at the bottom of my toy chest image

1993 Topps was the first pack I remember.
  • I live in Illinois and work in Wisconsin, the first pack of cards that I bought with my own money was in 1972 and I got a Roberto Clemente, which three years ago PSA graded as a Mint 9. Which I had to sell last year, for $375. I really hated getting rid of that card. image

I don't feel it's my place to let my city and state become widely known. Sorry, but I refuse to participate in the location contest. However, I will divulge that my first pack was a '79 Topps FB one.

I remember bugging family members for dollar bills when I was a kid. 79 and 80 Topps baseball packs were 25 cents each. Those were the days...

  • My best card collecting memories were in 1974 opening baseball wax packs praying to get the #1 Hank Aaron card to have bragging rights in the neighborhood! Those were the days!
  • Los Angeles County, California

I started collecting baseball cards in 1973 while playing little league. Stopped in 1976. Sold my ratty old collection in 82 to buy my wedding rings. Started up again 87, after leaving the military. Pulled a Canseco rookie with that first come-back pack and was hooked again. Stopped once more when the insert craze started. Went hot and cold since but managed to collect every set made in the 1980's.

Originally from Western Pennsylvania, now in Texas. My first sports pack was 1967 Topps Baseball first series. I had bought non-sports packs two or threes years earlier such as James Bond, the Beatles, Gilligan's Island and King Kong.
  • Easton, PA is where I was born and lived about half my 40 years. I remember buying '73 topps baseball packs and wacky packs when I first started the habit, er hobby. Kept some in rubber bands, flipped some, and clothespinned others to the back fork of my bike to rub against the spokes and make it sound like a motorcycle. Sold all for peanuts at about 13 and then started back up again in 1991 when I attended University of Georgia for grad school.

    Then...

I'm in Montana (courtesy of the US Air Force)...originally from San Diego California. I began buying packs of cards when I was 7 years old in 1970, and began really collecting in 1975 when I bought the 1975 Topps Padres and Reds team sets from Larry Fritsch.
