It's a double struck Jefferson, hung up in the collar and most of the date was obliterated. Don't you think it's reasonable to assume that it's a 1998-P??

    Yep, doesn't look like an 88 or earlier.

    that's my opinion. the "P" mintmark wasn't being used in 1978 and the step detail and hair detail is too strong for 1988. i think PCGS hedged on this, they should have dated the coin.

    Not only is the hair detail too strong, but it's the spaghetti variety the mint started using. Maybe they needed the half second to write down the date to catch up on their backlog?

    I agree totally, although I was like "whats he talking about" till i looked closer. I can only guess they didnt wanna take the time, but its very evident.
