    MS66*
    Prost!

Why step over the dollar to get to the cent? Because it's a 55DDO.

MS65* - if you look at the hand it's hardly formed - I don't think either grading service would go above 65 with that weak a strike - the colors are gorgeous - obviously an endroll coin.
  • DHeathDHeath Posts: 8,472 ✭✭✭
    Frank,

I think it's a technical strong 5, but if it looks anything like it does in those pics, PCGS/NGC would slap that thing in a 67 holder in a heartbeat. The toning HAS to bump that coin. JMO

Amazing folks now guess grades with the "*" as well.image But I guess it's expected because people also count the "*" as part of the populations too. There could be 500 at a certain grade but two thus far with the "*" and they call it a pop2. When many previous ones graded could be worthy. Got to love marketing. And don't get me wrong I have nothing against the designation whatsoever. Just thinking out loud folks.image

I have to agree that the weakly struck obverse central devices limit the grade. I think with the bump that it'll go 66 with a likely *star* designation at NGC. Superb coin and one worth owning without hesitation.

Do this many people actually know how to grade high mint state walkers or has everyone seen this coin at ANR? image mike

    It's a PCGS - MS67.

And it can be yours - -

It looks like it got two bumps for the color.

Here's my 1945-D in PCGS MS67, notice any difference in the quality other than toning?

Your obverse definitely is better struck and defined by looking at the pictures. Toning is definitely more well rounded with better eye appeal.

  • Wow, those are two stunning Walkers! I'd love to have them in hand and compare them both side by side. image

You should see the coin in person.... This Walker is a very high end coin, and except for acouple of minor ticks would have probably be the 2nd ms68 in the 1945-D Walkers.image

Puff; Yours wins by a mile -- or at least 2 grading points.

both coins are attractive but Puff's 67 is clearly better. There are some 45-D coins with great strikes...like the one Puff has...toning...again the one Puff has is tough if not impossible to beat. The other is attractive, but not worthy of a grade higher than 66.
