Picked-up the 2005 Red Book

I know there are some who don't buy it every year, because not much changes, but for 8 bucks I couldn't resist. It has sections on Hard Times Tokens, "coins from treasures and hoards - a key to understanding rarity and value" (by Q. David Bowers), and "great collectors and collections of the past" (by Ron Guth and Jeff Garrett); all new for this edition. They also expanded the pricing information to show both MS63 and 65 for newer issues; however, they don't show attributes such as FB, FBL, and FH (which I hope never happens). As expected, prices for "key coins" are up considerably, and even some not so key coins have jumped as well (e.g. 1955-D 25C is shown as $45 in MS65). I hope this helps anyone who was on the fence as to whether or not to pick one up.

Slowly but surely Ken Bressett and Company have been improving the book over the past 5 years or so. About 10 years ago the book was resting on its laurels and was fast becoming irrelevant. Now it's got a many new sections and some fresh text that are really making it worthwhile for the intermediate and advanced to collector.
You may not want to buy one every year, but if you have not purchased one in the last five years or so, it's definitely worth a strong
look!

low prices but they increased some of them substantially. Some of the largest increases
were in the quarters but they show 83-P MS-63 listed at $7. This coin wholesales at close
to $25.
Overall the book looks really good and they've managed to keep the feel of the older is-
sues. I saw many things which didn't used to be listed. Prices overall look to be much
closer to reality then they once were too. They still list at high retail, but they are prices
at which some coins actually sell.
I can recommend the 2005 edition.
I hate it when you see my post before I can edit the spelling.
