Ever sold a coin that later upgraded?

Who here has sold a coin that they later saw upgraded?

Were you pissed off or were you pleased that you had a good eye to begin with?

I try not to look for the coins I've sold. I don't think any would upgrade but if one did I'd probably be annoyed.

Yes, I sold it raw thinking it would go 63, and it went 64*. I made my profit, didn't have any risk. I was quite happy.

I sold an IHC that I know will be conserved and go up a point or two. Oh, well... I made a hefty profit in 5 days.

    Yup,

Many times as a dealer. It's OK by me if a collectors has that happen because they often become repeat customers. Sometimes it good with dealers too because it makes them want to see me first at a show.

    No.

But in 1989 I bought a raw type date saint for 100 dollars above certified 63 money at 1000 dollars and sold it at the first local show after it came back from normal 30 dollar service for 16 or 1700 [don't remember which].

Since I never really got into "the crackout game" I have no idea if someone I sold a coin to upgraded one of my former coins. If they did, good for them.

Yes...sold a frankie at 1100% profit over what I bought it at....next guy made 400% over what I sold it to him at...that's some serious math!!.....think it was "under graded " to begin with????????

  • I would make sure that anything I sell is graded pretty well. If I owned any that would upgrade, I wouldn't sell them.

  • Haven't had one upgrade yet that I know of.
    I'd be happy about it!

I've sold quite a few raw coins that were submitted by my buyers and graded higher than I graded them. In a couple of cases, I got ripped but good. The meanies didn't even slip me a few extra bucks. image

Many of the coins that I think have a shot, I end up leaving in their holder and selling as a PQ example. If the submission fee/time/potential don't measure up, I'd rather let someone else have some "white meat". Sure, They look expensive when they're PQ, but when they upgrade, they look cheap!

I always like to hear if coins I sold have upgraded as well.

I've only sold a handfull of coins, but I don't know if I'd be happy or annoyed to see one of my former buddies upgraded.
