Are you a Hillbilly coin collector??

keetskeets Posts: 25,351 ✭✭✭✭✭
You remember the "Appalacian Hoard" of wondrously toned Jefferson War Nickels, right?? So it's clear that there are hillbilly coin collectors out there, we just need you to identify yourself.

If living in the hills makes one a hillbilly, I guess I used to qualify. I love the Appalachians and spent a good portion of my life in the mountains of Western North Carolina. I sure get homesick for those hills at times like this, when I'm sweating out another steamy Low Country summer in coastal Georgia.

If a redneck said that, you would've been able to read OR understand a damn word that was said.

I do, however, live in the boonies, quite literally. Boone county, WV.

I live in the Hills above West Los Angeles, above where OJ used to live -- does that count as a hillbilly? My family doesn't wear shoes a lot too.

well, seeing as there's two ways to interpret this thread, maybe i should ask each respondent to clarify themselves on the salient point!! please choose the statement which is most correct:

    a) I'm a Hillbilly coin collector.
    b) I'm a Hillbilly Coin collector.

    oh boy!!

I don't live in the Appalachian Mountains but I spend a whole lotta time hiking in them. Here's a coin from the Hillbilly Mint in good ol' Dahlonega. Don't get much more hillbilly than that.

  • I can look out my window and see the hills of Kentucky that eventually run into the Appalachians. I guess that makes me a Hillbilly Coin Collector.

However, I can't say that I've ever seen any Hillbilly Coins.

Sorry Al but no Hillbillies are out here in the West. Why ? We do not have hills like the folks east of Wyoming. We have Mountains !!

You miiiight be a redneck if...
You think Sherlock Holmes is a
    housing project down in Biloxi.

You think a stock tip is
    advice on worming' your hogs.

    You've been married three times
and still have the same in-laws.

    You think TACO BELL is
    the Mexican Phone Company

    Your front porch collapses
    and four dogs git killed.

Your family tree has no forks.

A seven course meal is a bucket of KFC and a sixpack.

Your `huntin dawg' cost more than the truck you drive him around in.

    You think loading the dishwasher
    means getting your wife drunk.

You stare at an orange juice container
    because it says, "CONCENTRATE".

The Home Shopping operator recognizes your voice.

You think a Volvo is part of a woman's anatomy.

I'm one generation from being a hillbilly.

My daddy was born and raised in Kentucky, left in 1941 to join the Marines, only returned to visit family.

My grandpa was from Kentucky and kept his coin collection in a sock.
He kept them from spilling out by tieing the end in a knot.

I guess I'm part hillbilly. image
