Here's why the AU grade is so very cool (Pilgrim half)

At the CO Springs Coin Show, I was able to pick this coin up at less than 50% MS63 sheet since there's some rub present--still has great lustre, but costs MUCH less... plus, the design is awesome I even got an additional $3 off so I could give the guy two singles so he could buy a soda

I actually hadn't seen a close-up of one of those. That's a pretty neat coin.
AU can be a real money-saver when you're collecting for joy.

i picked up a PCGS MS62 about 2 months ago for $56 on eBay. the picture was really crappy, that probably kept bidders low.
i notice that the reverse die crack on your coin has progressed from the die state when my coin was struck. though mine is rim toned, if glassed there is evidence of polish where they worked on the crack. i'd have to assume that it advanced to a giant cud or just shattered the die completely.
